Compare the left photo to the first photo on page 1. This is Saturday, and the pits and staging lanes are full. Saturday's events include two time trials for all participants and the Gamblers race. There are 6 brackets run - Street Trophy, Street Money, Pro, Super Pro, Motorcycle and Jr. Dragster. All money classes are eligible to compete in the Gamblers race. In 2000, there were 523 cars entered in the race. Another shot of the staging lanes and the rest of the pits. We always try to have some extra crowd-pleasing entertainment. People love to see the jet cars. We try to have a pair each year. They can get some real speed up on the track. The track runs about 5/8 mile, then veers to the left to meet a runway. A really good pass requires good brakes or a good chute to make the turn. On the right - workin' the burnout box. The cars are the stars. There are no lights at our temporary facility, so on Sunday we have to really keep things moving. At this time of year, there are only 12 hours of daylight. All competitors get a full time trial in the morning, then we run all the brackets and the entertainment (jet cars, Quick 8, etc) that afternoon.On the right, this is what it all comes down to - The Super Pro final. A dragster and a Camaro go after the top honors. Charging into the twilight, the dragster gets there first, but the Camaro takes the win.
